There is no membership fee - just the cost of the current kit plus shipping. The prices of the kits vary from month to month depending on the yarn used. The average member's price (discounted) is about 22.00CDN per kit.

My favourite faux fair isle - makes fair isle almost tangle free! A beautifully hand dyed yarn with a woolly solid make a deceptively complicated sock. Sample is knit in lovely Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock (Mt Creek) and Meilenweit Solid Dark Navy (1141). For fair isle not to be feared - go faux!

Fair Not

Twisted stitches, yarn overs, ssks and k2togs combined in an interesting a fairly easy lace for a highly textured sock. Sampled in Meilenweit Seta Cashmere in a softly luxurious yarn that shows the texture well. 100g makes a pair

Lotus

Damask is all about texture and flows in a diagonal wave around the sock on onto the instep. A picot edge tops it off. Ships in Meilenweit Tweed or in a luxury version in Colinette Jitterbug ($27.50).

A favourite yarn in a favourite type of stitch. Jo Sharp's Silkroad DK Tweed in a two colour mosaic pattern. Soft and warm for those cold winter nights ahead. Kit includes 3 balls (2 darker and 1 lighter) and is a quick knit

Mosaic Trellis

Faux Fair Isle in 2 yarns - 1 variegated and 1 nearly solid. The colours play against each other in a variety of patterns from strictly geometric to swirly. Knitted in Lana Grossa Missoni Stile (new Fall 07) and Bosco.

Fair Game

Two lace socks, one a little more complicated and one an easy 2 round repeat. Both make a pretty lace and you can extend the lace down onto the instep or not. Kit will contain 2 balls each of 2 colours of Scheepjes Cotton 8 so you can make both - 1 for you and 1 for a friend (or not!).

Two Step

Square Dance joins Mexican and Line Dance in my series of modular sock patterns. Knit in a self patterning yarn (Cotton Maya on top and Super Soxx Cotton on the bottom), the modules mix up the stripes and create a pleasing geometry for your feet (and you thought that math was scary! - not this time!)

Oxford defines polyglot as knowing or using several languages. Polyglot merges a simple geometric double diamond lace with a complex and rich hand dyed yarn - the languages of lace, geometry and colour - Polyglotional! Sampled in Colinette's fabulous Jitterbug - colour Sahara

Faux fair isle with motifs based on traditional Latvian techniques and symbols for luck, health and prosperity. Knit in a self-striping yarn (Meilenweit Fantasy) against a solid background.

Wonderful Wensleydale Longwool in a textured pattern with cables. Knit from the top down with a simple crocheted edge added at the end

Earthen was inspired by a beautifully graphic African cloth design. Colours are taken from the brown earth, gray clay and sand. Fair isle pattern is easy to follow.

Starting with my preferred star toe and adding a few extra rows to the short row heel plus a loose K2tog cast off, this sock taught me 3 new things.
